Dell Security Peak Performance 2014
This year the SonicWall conference took place in Orlando, Florida. As a result of the acquisition of SonicWall and other security products by Dell, the name of the conference had been slightly changed to Dell Security Peak Performance.
Dell Security Peak Performance 2014
ASP, along with other partners and distributors in the region, were invited by Dell Benelux. The conference, attended by more than 600 people, was organized in The Loews Royal Pacific Resort and took place from October 12 till October 15 2014. The resort was only a small walk from the Universal Studios® Theme Park, so fun was only a few steps away!
During the keynotes and global sessions, Dell’s statement was straightforward: after the more than 30 acquisitions and after the struggle to become a private company, time has come for stability. This encompasses an integration of the different solutions Dell has to offer. Because of the complexity of security products in general, reliable channel partners are required to deliver, deploy and integrate these solutions within customers’ IT infrastructure. Organizing events like the Dell Security Peak Performance contributes to the training and education of these partners in order for them to be able to position and bring these products to the market. To emphasize the importance of the Dell Security portfolio, the top management of Dell participated to this event:
- Michael Dell, Chairman & CEO
- Matt Medeiros, Vice President & General Manager, Security Products
- Cheryl Cook, Vice President, Global Channels & Alliances
- Marvin Blough, Executive Director, Worldwide Channels & Alliances
- John Gmuender, CTO & VP, Development Engineering
- …
Innovations within the Dell Security portfolio
At this event, Dell announced some new products and revealed some items on the roadmap. New appliances on the low and high end SonicWall product range were introduced:
The new TZ appliances for the SMB market and the Supermassive 9000 series for the large enterprise segment. Bearing in mind that the new NSA series were already released a while ago, this means the complete range of Dell SonicWall appliance series will have been refreshed by the beginning of next year.
We also had a sneak preview of the Multitenancy feature (cf. virtual firewalls) that was already announced at the partner conference in Budapest that took place in June.
On the Central Management side, a new version of the Global Management system was demonstrated. This means no more struggling with JAVA versions as this new version is completely written in HTML5.
Last but not least the wireless access point’s portfolio has been completely refreshed with the SonicPoint-N Series Access Points & Integrated Wireless solutions.
The completeness of the Dell security Appliance Portfolio and the progress the portfolio made over the last years certainly proves Dell can become a real player in the Security World, ready to wake up and conquer the big Security players.
